Bened Shipping BV is a privately held Dutch logistics company headquartered in Werkendam, North Brabant, the Netherlands. Registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 81234567 and holding VAT registration NL857123456B01, we operate as a Besloten Vennootschap (private limited company) under Dutch corporate law.
Since our founding in 1994, we have grown from a single terminal storage operation on the Biesboschhaven into a fully integrated logistics provider offering tank storage, maritime shipping, and marine bunkering services. Our client base spans over 30 countries across Europe, West Africa, and the Middle East, and we handle more than 1.2 million tonnes of cargo annually.
Our History & Milestones
1994 - Bened Shipping BV was established by a group of maritime logistics professionals with a vision to provide reliable tank storage services in the Dutch inland waterway region. Our first terminal, with 15,000 m³ capacity, opened on the Biesboschhaven in Werkendam.
1998 - Expanded our storage capacity to 45,000 m³ and secured our first long-term storage contracts with major European oil traders. Received ISO 9002 certification for quality management.
2003 - Entered the shipping market with the acquisition of our first product tanker, MT Bened I (4,500 DWT). This marked our transition from a storage-only provider to an integrated logistics company.
2007 - Achieved ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 certifications. Opened our second terminal at the Port of Moerdijk with 60,000 m³ of additional capacity for chemical products.
2011 - Launched our marine bunkering division, supplying VLSFO and MGO to vessels at the Port of Rotterdam. Invested in two dedicated bunker barges with a combined capacity of 3,000 m³.
2015 - Expanded our fleet to 8 vessels and achieved a combined terminal storage capacity of 150,000 m³. Received ISO 45001 certification for occupational health and safety management.
2019 - Completed a major terminal modernization program, installing automated tank gauging systems, SCADA monitoring, and integrated inventory management across all facilities.
2022 - Crossed the 250,000 m³ storage capacity milestone. Introduced biofuel storage capabilities and began offering HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) storage services.
2025 - Operating 12 terminals across the Netherlands, a fleet of 14 vessels, and a dedicated bunkering team serving 500+ vessels annually. Our workforce has grown to over 280 employees.

Leadership Team
Hendrik van der Berg - Chief Executive Officer. With over 25 years of experience in the maritime logistics industry, Hendrik has led Bened Shipping BV's growth from a regional operator to an international logistics provider. He holds an MSc in Maritime Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam.
Marieke de Vries - Chief Operations Officer. Marieke oversees all terminal and shipping operations. She brings 18 years of experience in terminal management and previously held senior operations roles at Vopak and Odfjell.
Dirk Jansen - Chief Commercial Officer. Dirk manages our commercial strategy, client relationships, and business development across all three business divisions. He has been with Bened Shipping since 2006.
Dr. Fatima El-Amrani - Head of Health, Safety & Environment. A certified safety professional with a PhD in Environmental Engineering, Dr. El-Amrani leads our HSE strategy and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements.
